91 And Going Strong

Jerrie Thill

I hope that when I’m 91 I still have the energy Jerrie Thill has.  Jerrie was born in Dubuque, Iowa in 1917 and has been in the music business since she was 18.  For the past two dozen years, Jerrie has been performing every Sunday afternoon at Hollywood’s El Cid restaurant.

I found out about Jerrie from Allee Willis who wrote to me earlier this week to tell me about Jerrie.  While you may not recognize Allee’s name, you’ll certainly know many of the songs she’s written:  “September” and “Boogie Wonderland” by Earth, Wind & Fire; “I’ll Be There For You” by The Rembrandts which was the theme from the TV show Friends; “Neutron Dance” by the Pointer Sisters, and so many more.

Jerrie and Allee teamed up to put together a catchy song and video called “Hey Jerrie” that I think you’ll enjoy.

Hey Jerrie

To your happiness!

That was sweet. I feel happier just seeing all the photos of Jerrie as she matured in the music industry.

Thanks, Jessica. I love those photos too. My favorite is the one where she’s playing the drums at her mother’s 100th birthday party!

It is a feast to eyes to know and see the musician. This confirms my view of life that only our deeds can make us happy and healthy. Thanks for picking up the information and sharing with me and all others.
