I’m saying this to myself as much as I am to you.

I’m a chronic worrier. I got that trait from my mother, may she rest in peace. I used to say that if she didn’t have something to worry about she would worry that she didn’t have any worries.

On an intellectual level I know that worrying doesn’t accomplish anything. Yet over the years I’ve found myself worrying about all kinds of things.  Worry doesn’t help you change what might be wrong. I guess the only thing is, it makes you feel like you’re doing something.

In reality, worrying is a waste of time and energy.  I saw the following quote the other day.  From now on, if I catch myself worrying I’m going to remember this wisdom.

If you have fear of some pain or suffering, you should examine whether there is anything you can do about it. If you can, there is no need to worry about it; if you cannot do anything, then there is also no need to worry.
